Gate Automation.
GalwayGates.com install only the very best and latest technology in gate automation. We use brands like FAAC, Beninca, BFT, CAME, DEA, Ditec and NICE. GalwayGates.com provides a full three-year warranty on all electric gate systems installed with extended warranties and service also available.
An electric gate kit is a device or combination of devices that are used to open or close the gates at the entrance of a driveway or entrance. There are many different types of electric gate motors or openers. There are hydraulic or electromechanical gate automation systems. Automatic Gates or Gate Automation motors are designed for two types of gates, both sliding gates and swing gates. Gate Automation Kits come in two formats, AC or DC. The AC gate systems for domestic purposes are generally 230 volt single phase as standard. However for unusually large gates and industrial gates three phase 415 volt operators can be used although the need for three phase motors in gate automation is a very rare necessity. The DC electric gate kits come in a 24 volt format. DC gate motors are generally a faster system when opening a gate as compared with its AC counterpart but. DC Gate Automation systems are slightly more expensive than AC systems and they can also be fitted with a battery, which will keep the electric gates operating in the event of a power failure. DC electric gates can also be fitter to solar panels where the option of a power supply is not an option.
Electro-Mechanical Gate Automation Kits:
There are a few types of electromechanical gate automation systems in both overground and underground applications. Electromechanical gate operators work through the use of an electric motor directly driving a gearbox, articulated arm or jack-screw (the latter two being used in overground gate automation).
Electro-Hydraulic Gate Automation Kits:
Electro-Hydraulic electric gate openers come in both overground (Hydraulic ram type) and underground operators. This type of gate operator functions through the use of a pump which pressurizes hydraulic oil that moves the operator in forward and reverse motions through the use of hydraulic valves. Hydraulic electric gate operators generally have a much higher duty cycle and can operate a much higher weight of gate.
We install all types of electric gate systems including underground and over ground systems that can be retrofitted to any entrance.
Underground systems are the least obtrusive systems although there are some very sleek new designs in the over ground type in both articulated arm and hydraulic ram type.
Safety:
GalwayGates.com use only systems that feature soft stops and obstruction detection as part of our safety policy. The soft stop feature allows the speed and torque of the motors to slow right down on the last quarter of the opening and closing cycle. This makes injury almost impossible. All of our systems are available in DC versions. These gate automation systems have the capability of detecting any obstruction and immediately stop and begin to move in the opposite direction. We also apply the use of an emergency stop on all of our systems. Optional pressure pads are available and can be mounted on the inside of each pillar between the pinch point with the gate. Once pressure comes on the pads the gates automatically stop and start to move in the opposite direction
Be very aware of cheap and inadequate electric gate systems that are out there on the market and also be aware of installers quoting exceptionally cheap prices. These installers are cutting a lot of costs by avoiding safety features and also by avoiding branded names like FAAC. Many people buy diy electric gate automation kits directly off the internet and try to install themselves. Without electrical backgrounds or knowledge systems are installed with safety being jeopardises from multiple angles. Exposed electrically conductive parts can become live with insufficient earthing. Emergency stop switches may not be installed.
Reasons for installing Automatic Gates:
Security!
There are many reasons for installing Automatic Gates or Gate Automation Systems. Electric gates add a great deal of security to your property. If burglars are of the prowl they will most likely focus on easier targets other than properties with automatic gates. Automated gate systems have exceptionally strong gearing which makes it almost impossible to force them open. For added security a maglock can be installed on the centre of the gates. M Once the gates close the maglock powers up and ensures that it makes it even harder to force the gates open. Solenoid driven stainless steel bolts can also be applied in place of a maglock.
Ease Of Access:
Automatic/Electric gates make entering your premises effortless. You will not even have to get out of your car! Just imagine all of the times you had to get out of your car in the rain or cold weather to open your gates in the wintertime. Why not let the gate automation system handle all of that for you with the simple touch of a button!? Alternatively you can access your electric gates through the use of your mobile phone, ground loop detection device, intercoms, keyfob remotes and any number of access control options. To see exactly what types of access control are available please visit our “Access Control” page and see what types of devices can be fitted to your gate automation system.
